Rendon Dietzmann, a 32-year-old from Texas, is a YouTuber who goes by the name of Gixxer Brah. He frequently posts videos of himself riding different motorcycles at high speeds on U.S. highways, often squeezing through tight spaces in traffic, between lanes, and on shoulders. He has over 100,000 subscribers and millions of views on his channel.
However, his reckless driving has landed him in trouble with the law. On September 28, 2023, he recorded himself driving from Colorado Springs to the Denver metro area on Interstate 25 in 20 minutes – a trip that typically takes about an hour. He reached speeds of over 150 mph (241 kph), putting hundreds of people in jeopardy. He uploaded the video on YouTube, but later deleted it after receiving backlash from viewers and authorities.
The Colorado State Patrol (CSP) identified him as the rider and issued a warrant for his arrest on multiple charges, including menacing, engaging in a speed contest, reckless endangerment, reckless driving, speeding 40 mph over the limit, engaging in an exhibition of speed and driving without license plates attached.
“This is an extreme example, but sadly a real one,” State Patrol Sgt. Troy Kessler said. “If you drive like this, you can expect to be arrested when you are located. This is the best outcome for a person who drives violently since the smallest mistake could result in his death or that of an innocent person in the area.”
The CSP coordinated with the Dallas Police Department in Texas and the El Paso County District Attorney’s Office in Colorado to locate Dietzmann, whose hometown was not released. Investigators say numerous drivers and online viewers contacted the CSP about the incident
Dietzmann, who is still at large, has not commented on the matter publicly. His YouTube channel is still active, but he has not posted any new videos since the incident. His last video, uploaded on September 27, 2023, shows him driving on a highway in Texas with the title “Just a chill ride”.
This is not the first time Dietzmann has been involved in illegal driving. In 2019, he was arrested in Texas for evading arrest and reckless driving after leading police on a high-speed chase. He pleaded guilty and was sentenced to two years of probation, which he violated by leaving the state and continuing his dangerous driving habits.
Dietzmann’s case raises questions about the role of social media in encouraging and rewarding risky behavior. Some of his fans have expressed support and admiration for his driving skills, while others have criticized him for endangering himself and others. Some have also questioned the ethics and legality of YouTube allowing such content on its platform.
